JOB DESCRIPTION: The Don Tyson School of Innovation will be starting an orchestra program for the 2020-2021 school year.  This program will begin in the 6th grade and over the next 7 years will grow into a 6th - 12th grade program.  Springdale Public Schools have a long tradition of excellence in the instrumental and vocal music programs and we look forward to continuing this tradition with orchestra.      
Qualifications:
·        Bachelor’s degree or higher with a valid teaching license with applicable level/area endorsement.
·        Must demonstrate an extensive understanding of musical concepts and be able to communicate those concepts in a developmentally appropriate and age-appropriate manner with students.
·        Ability to communicate effectively with both children and adults both orally and in writing.
·        Recruit and retain students in the orchestra program.
·        Must have advanced pedagogical skills in string, brass, woodwind, & percussion instruments and able to perform advanced literature on piano.   
·        Must have advanced skills in music theory and composition.
·        Ability to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and musical experiences.
·        Ability to establish effective rapport with students and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, teachers, parents, and other staff members.

  Associate Director of ensembles/Coordinator of Athletic ensembles at Henderson State University to begin July 2020. Twelve-month, instructor or assistant professor.  

JOB DESCRIPTION:  The Associate Director of ensembles/Coordinator of Athletic ensembles must work collaboratively with the Director of ensembles in the administration of the university ensemble program, including the HSU Summer ensemble Camps. Specific responsibilities include directing the athletic ensembles, including the 160-member Showensemble of Arkansas Marching ensemble and the Reddie Basketball Pep ensemble, conducting the Symphony ensemble in the spring semester, teaching Marching ensemble Techniques, Instrumental Methods, and other music education courses based on qualifications and departmental needs, supervising instrumental music education interns, recruiting on and off campus, and active involvement with outreach efforts to public school ensemble programs throughout the region.
