Hello Friends,

The end of the year is drawing near.  I hope that you have had a great one.  As summer approaches, I hope you will consider joining us at the 2017 Arkansas Bandmasters Convention July 26 through July 29 in Little Rock.  We have been working all year to plan ABA 2017 (actually for a few years).  I think you will find it to be informational and exciting.

We are privileged to have some of the top educators in our field joining us this year.
Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser will be our Keynote speaker and offer us a motivational clinic on top of that.  We are also joined by out of state clinicians Marcia Neel, Eric Sabach, Colton Hines and Chuck Booker.

We have clinics lined up for Beginning Flute, Double Reeds and Tuba, small school bands, marching band electronics, recruiting and retention, choosing and editing music, classroom management, balancing concert and marching band and what the state marching contest judges are looking for.

Our kick off concert is The Natural State Brass Band.  On Wednesday, we have adjusted the schedule in order for you to enjoy the DCI show at a discounted price. (PLEASE attend the Natural State Brass Band concert at 4:30 pm before DCI at 7:00 pm). On Thursday, we are working to have Food Trucks outside the hotel for a delicious, quick, convenient and affordable lunch. Keep your fingers crossed that we can get this worked out.  Friday will be the clinic and concert by the Konko Gakuen Jr/Sr Wind Orchestra from Okayama, Japan.

As usual, we will start on Wednesday with our Annual Golf Tournament, Friday will also feature the ABA Luncheon, the banquet and the reception for Bandmaster of the Year.

NEW Ė You will receive an early bird registration discount for submitting your materials by July 10!  Registrations will still be accepted after July 10, including onsite, but at the standard fee.

Please take advantage of the early bird special for you and/or your school.  Iím looking forward to seeing you in July!!!

Spouse Activites

Dear ABA Spouses,

I cannot believe that another year has flown by and summer is upon us! As you are making your summer plans, I do hope that you are planning to include the ABA Convention in July! I am very excited about the activities planned for YOU to enjoy while your spouse is benefiting from some amazing clinics.

On Thursday afternoon we will visit the Mystery Mansion Escape Room in Little Rock. The escape room is housed in a lovely historic home originally owned by Joe T. Robinson. The escape room is an hour of teamwork and clue busting fun!

On Friday we will tour the Governorís Mansion, have a dutch-treat lunch as a group at one of Little Rockís yummy restaurants, and then visit the State Capitol for a guided tour in the afternoon.

Please make sure to register and pre-pay for the escape room. It really will be a blast and we want to make sure we have plenty of rooms reserved. Also, be sure to mark on the form if you want to attend the tours. The tours are free, but we need to know who will be attending in order to have enough tour guides! We also plan to eat together and will need to know how many seats to reserve.

Our activities are open to ALL ABA spouses attending the Convention (guys, Iím talking to you, too!)?

I am really looking forward to these activities and hope you will join us for the fun!
